Update - Winter 2020
It's been a long year, and many of us are cooped up in our homes, but fortunately Gordon City remains a place you can explore, talk to people and make friends the old fashioned way! We were happy to share our game to the public this year for the very first time. It's been a largely positive experience and we've learned a lot. This update accounts for feedback we've received, both online and in-person, and also includes our own ideas for improvement.
Overview of Changes
- Added title screen.
- Added opening song.
- Main character vertical & horizontal movement sped up.
- Capability added to close-up view certain objects. signs, flyers, etc.
- Removed anti-aliasing in most sprites and some backgrounds.
- Added configurable palette swap for spritesheets.
- Added random sprite skin color.
- Updated the look/feel of the text windows and status bar.
- Text windows are now more dynamically positioned based on character location.
- Cleaned up some of the level artwork.
- Added railings to the boardwalk section.
- Reworked the tablet system with better progress tracking and hints.
- Character AI can now track multiple conditions.
- Added animation and frame based sound effect for basketball player.
- Code cleanup and refactoring.
- Minor gameplay/story additions/changes.
